The Ramayana, Changed to Convenience

By Zeke, and Lisa

Introduction:

Since the Ramayana was first written, it has changed forms. It started out with a written version, shadow puppetry, and a performed version ( a play ). In the traditional version, it ends with Sita throwing herself into the fire for Rama, to prove her loyalty, and he doesn't allow her back even after that. In the modernized versions of the Ramayana, which are the Ramayana Television Series, The Movie of the Ramayana, and other modernized/ animated versions of the Ramayana, the endings have changed quite a bit from the traditional end of the Ramayana. In the modernized ending of the Ramayana Rama takes Sita back after she proves herself in the trial by fire. In indian culture today, the tale of the Ramayana is greatly loved by all religions, but some believe that the modernized versions of the Ramayana are lies. Since the creation of the Ramayana, many different cultures of south asia have embraced the Ramayana due to its important lessons. In india, it's common for the older generations to embrace the traditional versions, and it's common for the newer generations to embrace the modernized versions. The reason we picked this topic, was because we thought that since the Ramayana was so popular in many cultures, it would be interesting to learn more about.
