India is still poverty stricken but the amount of middle class is rising quickly. Knowing this, we can compare and contrast poverty and development. Because development is growing so quickly, it is standing out because it is so close to poverty, especially in large urban areas, like large cities. One of the most obvious examples would be New Delhi, where someone can easily see the contrast between the skyscrapers and the poverty stricken people of the city.
We picked this topic because it is intersting to see how quickly India is developing, by contrasting the modern development to the poor people, and how they survive in the fast developing area.

A poor homeless Indian sleeping on his motorcycle. A tradional man powered rickshaw is infront of a modern motor powered rickshaw.
A conversation between an 80 year old man and his 13 year old grandson. They are walking around in downtown New Delhi.
Kid: Grandpa look to your right, every thing is really nice, and modern. Now look to your left, on the other side of the street, everything is really trashed and dirty.
Grandpa: Yes, to the left is where the poor people live. They are forced to live on scraps of food that they can find in dumpsters. The people who live on the right are the people who have the money, that side shows the development that has occured.
Kid: That doesn't seem fair. While we are eating well, and have some extra money left over, none of those people do.
Grandpa: Your right, its not always fair. Although a large portion of those people deserve to be where they are, because they have not tried to get out. India is getting more and more developed, while these people sit and stay right where they are.
Kid: When you put it that way, I guess they do deserve it. Look at the street, even there some people have actual cars, but other people are still in old fashioned bicycles.
Grandpa: The people with the bicycles are probably from the left side of the street, the ones without any money.
Kid: Whatever. It still doesn't seem fair how those people have nothing, and the people on this side have a bunch of money, and all these huge skyscrapers everywhere.
Grandpa: Yea, this stuff happens a lot in big cities these days. It allows you to compare how bad some people have it, to how good you have it.
Kid: Ok well, im hot. Let's get some ice cream.
Grandpa: Ok but your buying.
Kid: Your the grandpa, your supposed to pay.
Grandpa: Well that may be true, but your from the nice side of the street. I'm from the poor side.
